Souvlakia(Greek Skewered Steak)
Souvlakia(Greek Skewered Steak) is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 lb. meat per person (steak, lamb, veal or pork), 2 tomatoes, quartered, 1 onion, quartered or tiny whole onions, 1 green pepper, cut into 1-inch strips and 8 mushrooms, caps and stems separated, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Cube meat into 1-inch pieces. Wash and prepare vegetables. Skewer each one in order: green pepper, mushroom stem, onion, meat, tomato and continue until skewer is 3/4 full.
Cap with mushroom.
Lay in a flat pan and sprinkle with the rest of the ingredients.
Broil 5 minutes on one side. Turn and broil 4 minutes on the other side.
Can serve on rice pilaf.
