Italian-Style Swiss Steak
Italian-Style Swiss Steak is an impressive dinner. Made with 15 oz. boneless top round, 1 tsp. and 1 tbsp. vegetable oil, 2 c. sliced mushrooms, 1/2 sliced onion and 1/2 c. sliced carrots, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Bursting with flavor in every bite.
Preheat broiler.
Broil beef on rack 4-inches from heat 2 minutes on each side. Set aside.
In a large nonstick skillet, heat oil. Add mushrooms, onion, carrots and celery.
Cook over medium heat until onion is translucent, about 2 minutes. Stir in tomato sauce, wine, oregano, garlic powder, pepper, salt and 1 cup water.
Return meat to skillet. Cover and simmer over low heat 1 hour. Add green pepper and potatoes.
Simmer until meat is tender, about 35 minutes.
