Citrus Simmered Steak
Citrus Simmered Steak is an impressive dinner. Made with 1 3/4 to 2 lb. round steak, cut 1 3/4-inches thick, 2 tbsp. cooking oil, 1/2 c. (4 oz. can) drained mushroom pieces (if desired), 1/2 c. (1 medium) onion slices and 2 tbsp. barbecue sauce or catsup, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
In large frypan, brown meat in oil on both sides.
Add mushrooms, onion, barbecue sauce, lemon or orange juice, soy sauce, lemon or orange peel, salt and thyme.
Simmer, covered, 1 1/2 to 2 hours, until meat is tender.
