Mix butter and sugar thoroughly.
Measure flour by sifting. Work in flour with hands.
Chill.
Roll dough 1/3 to 1/2-inch thick (or thinner if desired).
Cut into fancy shapes.
Place on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake 20 to 25 minutes at 350Β° (moderate). The tops do not brown during baking, nor does shape of cookies change.
Makes 2 dozen 1 1/2 x 1-inch cookies.
