German Chocolate Pie
German Chocolate Pie uses German sweet chocolate, evaporated milk, sugar, cornstarch, eggs, vanilla, coconut, and pecans to make a soft baked custard. The pie looks slightly puffed when done and becomes sliceable after a long cool.
Melt the German sweet chocolate with the margarine over low heat.
Remove from the heat and gradually blend in the evaporated milk.
Mix the sugar, cornstarch, and salt, then add the beaten eggs and vanilla.
Blend the egg mixture into the chocolate mixture and pour it into the unbaked pie shell.
Mix the coconut and pecans, sprinkle them over the top, and bake at 375 F for 45 minutes; cool 4 hours before serving.
