General Tso's Chicken
General Tso'S Chicken is an impressive dinner. Made with 2 lb. chicken meat, 1/2 c. rice vinegar, 1 tbsp. dark soy sauce, 4 tbsp. cornstarch and 1/2 c. green onion, chopped, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Cut chicken into bite-size chunks.
Mix egg and 2 tablespoons cornstarch.
Add chicken; stir until well coated.
Fry chicken in hot oil until golden brown.
Drain on paper towels.
Do not cover. Mix together 2 tablespoons cornstarch in cool water and set aside.
Combine the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, dark soy and sesaame oil.
Add 1 tablespoon oil to hot pan.
Quickly fry red pepper, onions, garlic and ginger until they become hot.
Add soy sauce mixture and bring to a boil.
Add just enough cornstarch mixture to thicken.
Stir in chicken pieces.
Serve with steamed rice.
Experiment with amounts of ingredients to get it the way you like it.
