Christmas Pickles
Christmas Pickles is an moderately easy seasonal dish you can prepare in about 1 hour 26 minutes. Made with cucumbers, c. vinegar, . alum, . salt and . pickling spices, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Wash and pack cucumbers (small) in gallon jar or container with tight lid.
Add vinegar, alum, salt and pickling spices.
Put all in jar and finish filling jar with water so pickles are covered.
Shake well and leave in jar until before Christmas. Open near Christmas and wash pickles well.
Slice and put back in clean jar.
Add sugar and water; stir until sugar is all dissolved (daily).
Keep in refrigerator.
I transfer to small jars after sugar is dissolved.
I make them up about August or September when pickles are in.
