Rinse well in cold water.

With a sharp knife, remove pits from prunes.

Put fruits into large saucepot with tight-fitting cover.

Add 2 quarts water.

Cover and soak fruits for 2 to 3 hours.

Then add 1/4 cup sugar, 3 tablespoons tapioca, 3-inch piece stick cinnamon and 1 teaspoon grated orange peel.

Bring to boiling, reduce heat, cover and simmer about 1 hour or until fruit is tender.

Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup red raspberry fruit syrup.

Chill soup in refrigerator.

Serve with whipped cream and (optional) slivered blanched almonds.

Recipe can be made without raisins.

Makes about 3 quarts soup.
