Out-of-This-World Rolls
Out-Of-This-World Rolls is an moderately easy baked good you can prepare in about 2 hours 8 minutes. Made with . dry yeast, c. warm water, c. shortening, c. sugar and eggs, well beaten, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Soften yeast in 1/4 cup warm water.
In large bowl, combine shortening, sugar, beaten eggs, 1 cup warm water and salt.
Stir in softened yeast and 2 1/2 cups flour.
Beat until smooth and blended.
Add remaining flour to make a soft dough and mix well. Cover and allow to rise in a warm place until double in bulk. This takes about 1 hour.
Punch down and place in refrigerator overnight.
Divide dough in half and roll each portion into a rectangle 1/2-inch thick.
Spread with softened butter.
Roll each rectangle jelly roll style and cut into 1-inch slices.
Place cut side down in greased muffin tins.
Cover and let rise 2 hours. Bake at 400Β° for 15 minutes.
Makes 2 dozen large rolls.
