Montana Swiss Steak
Montana Swiss Steak is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/2 lb. round steak, 3 tbsp. flour, 1 tsp. salt, 1/4 tsp. pepper and 1/2 tsp. chili powder, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Cut meat into 6 serving size pieces.
Combine flour, salt, pepper and chili powder; pound 2 tablespoons of mixture into meat. Heat shortening in 10-inch skillet; brown meat on both sides. Drain excess fat from skillet.
Add undrained tomatoes, onion, celery, carrot, Worcestershire sauce and pepper.
Cover.
Simmer for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Remove meat; place on a warm serving plate.
Skim excess fat off sauce.
Combine 1/4 cup water with remaining flour mixture and stir into sauce.
Cook, stirring, for 2 minutes.
Serve meat and sauce over hot cooked rice or noodles. Makes 6 servings.
