German Chocolate Cake
This German Chocolate Cake is another upside-down style bake, with coconut and pecans spread in the pan before chocolate cake batter and a melted cream-cheese sugar mixture go on top. During baking, the sweet filling sinks into the cake.
Spray a 10 x 15-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
Mix the coconut and chopped pecans and spread them over the bottom of the dish.
Prepare the German chocolate cake mix with the eggs, water, and oil, then pour it over the pecan mixture.
Melt the oleo or butter and blend in the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
Pour the cream-cheese mixture over the cake batter.
Bake at 350 F for 45 to 50 minutes, until the cake is set and the filling has sunk into the batter.
Cool before cutting into squares.
