Fruit Cocktail Cake
Fruit Cocktail Cake is an impressive dinner. Made with 1 1/2 c. sugar, 2 c. sifted flour, 1/2 tsp. salt, 2 tsp. baking soda and 2 eggs, slightly beaten, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Mix first six ingredients together until well mixed.
Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan.
Mix together brown sugar and 1/2 cup chopped walnuts.
Sprinkle over cake batter and bake at 350Β° for 45 minutes.
Just before cake is ready to come out of the oven, in a small pan mix the margarine, white sugar and canned milk.
Boil for 2 minutes, remove from heat and add 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, coconut and vanilla.
Spread this mixture over cake as soon as cake comes out of the oven.
