French Style Onion Soup
French Style Onion Soup is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 5 c. thinly sliced sweet spanish onions, separated into rings, 1/4 tsp. sugar, 1/4 c. butter, 3 cans (10 1/2 oz.) condensed beef broth and 1 qt. water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

If any of the onion rings are large, cut them in half; sprinkle with the sugar.
In a large non-aluminum saucepot melt the butter; add the onion and cook gently, stirring often until a pale gold color.
Add the beef broth and the water; cover and simmer for 45 minutes.
Stir in salt and pepper.
Refrigerate.
At serving time reheat and ladle into individual ovenproof casseroles.
Top with the bread and generously sprinkle with the cheese.
Bake at 400Β° for 5 to 8 minutes.
