French Onion Soup
French Onion Soup is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 4 c. thinly sliced sweet onions, 1 garlic clove, finely chopped, 1/4 c. butter, 5 1/2 c. water and 1/3 c. dry sherry or white wine, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

In large saucepan, cook onions and garlic in butter until golden brown.
Add water, sherry and bouillon.
Bring to boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 30 minutes to blend flavors.
Place soup in 6 ovenproof soup bowls.
Top each with bread slices and cheese.
Broil until cheese melts.
Serve immediately.
