English Toffee Christmas Candy is an easy dinner. Made with 1 lb. butter, 1 1/2 lb. brown sugar, 1 tsp. salt and 1 lb. milk chocolate, melted (optional), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
In an iron skillet, mix the sugar, butter and salt together. Bring to a boil and boil to a hard crack stage (300Β° on a candy thermometer).
Stir constantly so it won't burn.
When hard crack stage is reached, pour toffee onto cookie sheets.
In the winter place outside until it hardens.
Bring in and pour melted chocolate over.
When chocolate is set, break toffee into serving pieces.
