Combine first 9 ingredients in a large bowl.

Mix well. To form meatballs, tablespoonful of meat mixture and roll into balls.

Heat shortening in large skillet on medium heat. Cook meatball brown on the outside and done on the inside.

Also broil meatballs until done.

Drain meatballs well put to the side.

In a medium saucepan on low heat, heat jelly until it is a liquid, stirring constantly.

Then add chile sauce.

Continue stirring until hot.

Pour over meatballs. Serve very warm.

Makes 10 servings.

Can be made ahead, freezes well.

Sauce tastes better if made ahead.
