Boiled Pot Pie
Boiled Pot Pie is an easy dinner. Made with 1 tsp. salt, 2 tbsp. shortening (not butter or oleo), 1 medium egg, 2 c. flour and water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
Mix salt and flour.
Cut in shortening until fine.
Beat egg in measuring cup.
Add enough water to make a cup of liquid.
Add to dry ingredients and mix well to moisten.
Turn out on floured board and knead about 10 times.
Roll until about 1/4-inch thick. Add flour to rolling pin and surface as needed.
Cut in 1-inch squares and drop into boiling broth.
Takes about 20 minutes to reach chewy texture that is pot pie.
