Southern Yeast Rolls
Southern Yeast Rolls is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 1/2 c. sifted flour (self-rising), 1 egg, 1/2 yeast cake, 1 1/2 tbsp. sugar and 1/4 c. warm water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Packed with nutrients and delicious flavors.
Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water.
Add beaten egg and milk together.
In bowl, cut shortening into flour; add liquid to form soft dough.
Knead gently on floured board.
Roll 3/8-inch thick.
Cut with large biscuit cutter.
Brush top with melted butter and fold into pocketbook rolls.
Place rolls in greased pan and cover with towel.
Allow to rise for 2 to 4 hours at room temperature or until double in size.
Bake at 400Β° for 10 to 15 minutes.
When done, brush with butter.
