Refrigerator Cole Slaw
Refrigerator Cole Slaw is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 medium to large head cabbage, shredded, 2 medium onions, sliced and separated, 3/4 c. sugar, 1 c. vinegar and 1 1/2 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Place cabbage and onions in layers in a large bowl.
Pour 3/4 cup sugar over this mixture.
Bring vinegar, salt, 1 teaspoon sugar, mustard seed and prepared mustard to a boil.
Add vegetable oil.
Beat mixture well.
Spoon over cabbage mixture.
Cover and let set in refrigerator for 24 hours before serving.
Will keep 2 to 3 weeks.
