Butter an 8 inch square pan with 2 tsp. butter, set aside. Combine powdered sugar and dry milk, set aside.
In a heavy saucepan combine 1/2 cup butter, sugar and corn syrup; cook and stir until it comes to a boil and sugar is dissolved.
Stir in powdered sugar, about 1/3 at a time until blended.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
Continue stirring until mixture thickens and mounds slightly when dropped from a spoon.
Spread into prepared pan.
Cool.
Cut candy into four strips.
Cut each strip in half.
Shape each strip into a log shape.
Wrap in waxed paper, twist the ends.
Freeze or refrigerate until firm.
