Grandma'S Potato Soup is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 6 to 8 medium size potatoes, peeled and coarsely chopped, 1 (10 1/2 oz.) can condensed tomato soup plus 1 can water, 1 (1 lb. 12 oz.) can whole tomatoes in juice, approximately 1 lb. peeled, chunked carrots and approximately 4 large stalks celery with leaves, chunked, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Fry bacon until very crisp.

Remove bacon from large pot. Pour off some of the fat, but reserve a large portion to saute chopped onion.

Add balance of ingredients except reserved bacon. Bring to a boil, then turn way down and simmer 1/2 hour.

Add crushed, crisp bacon and simmer another 45 minutes to 1 hour. Take a potato masher and run it through the soup to break up some of the chunks.

Serve with fresh rye or pumpernickel bread and butter.

Hearty winter meal.
