Country-Fried Steak
Country-Fried Steak is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. bisquick, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/8 tsp. pepper, 1/8 tsp. paprika and 1 lb. beef round steak, cut into serving-size pieces, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Blend baking mix, salt, pepper and paprika.
Coat meat pieces. (Reserve remaining seasoned mixture.)
Cook meat in hot shortening until brown.
Add 1/4 cup of the water.
Cover and cook over low heat about 2 hours or until meat is tender.
Remove meat to platter.
Add 1 cup of water to drippings in skillet.
Stir together 2 tablespoons of the reserved seasoned mixture and remaining 1/4 cup of water.
Gradually stir into drippings.
Heat to boiling, stirring constantly.
Boil and stir 1 minute.
Pour over meat.
Makes 4 servings.
