Bran Muffins By The Pailful is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 4 c. all-bran (or 3 c.), 2 c. 100% bran (or 3 c.), 1 tsp. salt, 2 c. boiling water and 1 qt. buttermilk, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Combine brans and salt; stir in boiling water then buttermilk. Cool to lukewarm.
Cream together in mixing bowl the sugar and shortening.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Stir into bran mixture.
Combine flour and soda.
Add to bran mixture and stir just enough to dampen dry ingredients. Store in refrigerator until ready to use.
