Barbecued Ham In Pita Pockets is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 tbsp. oil, 2 1/2 c. shredded cooked smoked ham, 1/2 c. diced green pepper, 1 small onion, diced and 8 oz. can tomato sauce, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
In a large skillet, heat oil and saute ham, green pepper and onion until lightly browned.
Stir in tomato sauce, sugar, vinegar, chili powder, mustard and pepper; simmer 10 minutes. Meanwhile, warm pita loaves in oven.
Cut pita in half and with fingers, spread pocket open in each half and spoon in ham mixture or fill hamburger buns.
