Sauerkraut Salad is a 24-hour German side made with drained kraut, finely chopped green pepper, onion, celery, sugar, and vinegar. The hot sweet vinegar dressing seasons the vegetables while they chill.

Heat together the sugar and vinegar until sugar dissolves. Pour over vegetables.
Make at least 24 hours before serving. Makes 1 1/2 quarts.
