Old French Market Donuts
Old French Market Donuts is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/4 c. shortening, 1/2 c. sugar, 1 tsp. salt, 1 c. boiling water and 1 c. canned or sweet milk, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

Pour boiling water over shortening, sugar and salt.
Add milk; add yeast that has been dissolved in lukewarm water.
Add beaten eggs; stir in 4 cups flour.
Beat hard; add enough flour to a soft dough.
Place in an airtight container and grease top of dough. Cover with a damp cloth and keep in refrigerator until ready to use.
Roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness; cut into squares.
Drop in hot deep fat and fry until lightly brown.
Drain on paper towel; dust with powdered sugar.
Serve hot.
Dough is best when it is about a week old and does not have to be used all at once.
