Cream butter and shortening; add sugar and cream well.
Mix beaten eggs, soda dissolved in buttermilk and vanilla, and add to butter mixture.
Mix well.
Mix flour and baking powder and add to mixture; mix well.
Place small ball of dough on cookie sheet and flatten with bottom of a glass.
Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350Β° for 10 to 15 minutes.
