No-Bake Stuffed Peppers
No-Bake Stuffed Peppers is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3 medium green peppers, 1/2 tsp. basil, 3/4 lb. ground beef, 2 1/4 c. minute rice and 1/2 c. grated cheddar cheese, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Packed with nutrients and delicious flavors.
Cut peppers in half, lengthwise.
Remove and discard stems, ends and seeds.
Parboil in boiling salted water for 10 minutes; drain.
In a mixing bowl, add sugar and basil to the can of tomato sauce and set aside.
Brown ground beef and onion well in a large skillet.
Stir in 1/2 cup of the tomato sauce mixture, 1/4 cup of the rice and 1/2 teaspoon of the salt.
Cover and simmer 5 minutes; stir in cheese.
Spoon meat mixture into peppers and place in skillet.
Pour remaining tomato sauce mixture around peppers.
Cover and simmer 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, bring water, 1 teaspoon salt and the butter to boil.
Stir in remaining rice. Cover.
Remove from heat.
Let stand 5 minutes.
Serve peppers over the rice; top with additional sauce and cheese.
