Merk's Coffee Cake
Merk'S Coffee Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. shortening, 3/4 c. sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla, 3 eggs and 2 c. sifted flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla; add eggs singly, beating well after each addition.
Sift flour, baking powder and baking soda together; add to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream. Spread 1/2 of batter in 10-inch greased tube pan.
Cream butter, cinnamon and brown sugar together.
Add nuts; mix well.
Dot batter mixture in pan with nut mixture.
Cover with remaining batter.
Dot with remaining nut mixture.
Bake at 350Β° for 50 minutes.
Cool for 10 minutes after baking.
