Layer or 24 Hour Salad
Layer Or 24 Hour Salad is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 small head lettuce, 1/2 c. chopped green pepper, 1/2 c. chopped celery, 1/2 c. chopped red onion and 1 can sliced water chestnuts, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
Place ingredients in layers in a low bowl and sprinkle a little salt and pepper as you go.
Layer lettuce, green pepper, celery, onion, water chestnuts and frozen peas.
Press peas down tightly.
Spread a layer of mayonnaise over all.
Place slices of tomatoes on top of mayonnaise.
Sprinkle with grated cheeses, then crumble cooked bacon and chopped hard-boiled eggs over top. Refrigerate for 24 hours.
