Gravy Smothered Minute Steak is an easy dinner. Made with 4 to 6 tenderized minute steaks, 1/2 c. buttermilk, 1/2 c. crisco shortening, 1 c. flour and salt and pepper, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Salt and pepper steaks. Dip in buttermilk, then into flour. Fry in hot Crisco shortening until brown. Remove steaks from shortening.
Add 1/2 flour, salt and pepper.
Stir until smooth, then add 2 cups water to make a gravy.
Return steaks into gravy and cook about 1 1/2 hours on low heat until tender; turn often.
