Grandma's Tea Cakes
Grandma'S Tea Cakes is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 pkg. active dry yeast, 1/2 c. warm water, 1/4 c. scalded milk, 1/2 c. salad oil or melted shortening and 1/3 c. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Soften yeast in warm water.
Combine milk, shortening, sugar and salt. Sift together 1 cup of flour and currants. Stir in milk mixture.
Well beaten eggs.
Add yeast and remaining flour.
Well. Knead. Put into large greased bowl.
Brush top of dough with melted butter.
Cover; let rise until doubled in bulk.
Shape into small, round buns.
Put on greased pan.
Let rise until doubled in bulk.
Beat together 1 egg and
1/2 cup milk.
Brush on buns and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 350Β° for 15 to 20 minutes.
