Towards the end of cooking (last 15 minutes or so), mix dumpling ingredients in a small bowl.
Stir well and drop by spoonful on top of boiling stew.
Tightly and cook about 12 minutes. Turn dumplings over and cook a few more minutes.
Let simmer if you wish but turn the stew down to a slow cook from now on.
