Thoroughly cream butter, sugar and vanilla.
Add egg; beat until light and fluffy.
Stir in milk.
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
Blend into creamed mixture.
Divide and chill 1 hour.
On lightly floured surface, roll and cut into shapes with cookie cutters.
Bake at 375Β° for 5 to 8 minutes. Always double or triple this recipe because it only makes 2 dozen.
