Sift flour, soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg into bowl. Add shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla.
Beat until smooth, about 2 minutes. Stir in oatmeal and raisins.
Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake in a 350Β° oven 12 to 15 minutes.
Yields 3 1/2 dozen.
