Beignets(New Orleans Style Square Donuts) is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 3/4 to 3 1/4 c. flour, 1 pkg. active dry yeast, 1 c. milk, 1/4 c. sugar and 2 tbsp. shortening, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.

In large bowl, stir together 1 1/2 cups flour and yeast.
In saucepan, heat milk, sugar, shortening and salt to 115° to 120°. Stir constantly.
Add heated mixture to flour mixture; add egg. Beat with electric mixer on low 1/2 minute.
Beat 3 minutes on high.
Use spoon and stir in enough remaining flour to make a soft dough.
Place dough in greased bowl, turn once to grease surface. Cover and refrigerate dough until chilled.
(Chill overnight and fry for breakfast.)
