Steamed Brown Bread
Steamed Brown Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. flour, 1 c. brown sugar, 1 1/2 c. graham flour, 1 c. sour or buttermilk and 1 tsp. soda, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.

Eggs well.
Add sifted dry ingredients alternately and molasses.
Add dates, raisins and nuts.
Greased vegetable cans.
Partly cover cans with aluminum foil.
Set in bottom of large kettle that has a good cover.
Add 3-inches of water in kettle.
Cook on burner 1 1/2 hours.
Partly cool; carefully cut out the bottom of can and push it against the bread to remove from can.
Freezes good.
