Beat together egg and sugar.
Add 3/4 cup milk and butter. Stir together flour and salt.
Make a well in center and add egg-milk mixture.
Add up to 1/4 cup more milk, if needed, to make a soft dough.
Turn out of bowl onto well-floured board and pat flat to about 3/4-inch thickness.
Using a 1 1/2-inch cutter, cut and place close together on a floured (not greased) baking sheet. Bake at 500Β° about 10 minutes.
Makes 15 to 18.
