French Coffee Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 1/4 c. sugar, 2 sticks plus 2 tbsp. shortening, 5 beaten eggs, 6 c. flour and 1/2 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.

Cream together sugar, salt, shortening and vanilla.
Add gradually in small amounts a portion of the liquid alternately with the flour.
Add eggs and mix until smooth.
The sides of the bowl should be scraped down occasionally to insure a uniform batter. Pour into 9 x 13-inch greased pan.
