Cornmeal Pancake

Combine buttermilk, egg and butter in a mixing bowl.
Stir briskly until mixture is smooth.
Stir together cornmeal, flour, salt and soda in a smaller bowl until well blended.
Stir into the buttermilk mixture only until moistened, leaving some lumps.
Heat griddle or skillet to medium hot.
Grease lightly and spoon out about 3 tablespoons of batter per pancake, spreading it with back of spoon.
Brown; then turn to brown other side.
