American Ice Cream
American Ice Cream is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 tbsp. flour, 3/4 c. sugar, 2 c. scalded milk, 1 egg or 2 egg yolks, slightly beaten and 2 c. heavy cream, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.

Mix flour and sugar thoroughly.
Add milk slowly and cook over hot water 8 minutes, stirring frequently.
Add to egg, cook 2 minutes and cool.
Add cream, salt and vanilla.
Pour into freezer can and freeze using 8 parts ice to 1 part salt.
Makes about 1 1/4 quarts.
