June'S Kidney Beans(Abington Grange Supper) is an moderately easy family-friendly dish. Made with 2 lb. dried kidney beans, 1/4 lb. lean salt pork, 1/2 c. sugar, 2 tsp. salt and 1 tsp. soda, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Soak beans overnight.
Place salt pork in the bottom of a bean pot, drain the beans and to pot with all other ingredients.
Cover with hot water and bake at 325° for 5 or 6 hours.
Add more water as needed and reduce temperature to 300° for last hour.
Add more molasses, if desired.
Fork test, done when beans are tender, but not mushy.
Serves 10 hungry people.
