Indian Fry Bread

Dissolve yeast in warm water.
Add sugar and salt.
Allow to stand 5 minutes covered with towel.
Add flour and oil; stir flour into liquid mixture.

Put dough into greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 1/2 hours or until doubled in bulk. When doubled, punch down and knead a few moments in 1/2 c. cornmeal. Separate into two balls.

Cut into 2 inch squares.
Let pieces of dough rest while oil heats in iron skillet to boiling point.
Fry 5 to 6 pieces at a time until golden brown, just a few moments.
If there are leftovers, warm for breakfast and shake in confectioner's sugar.
